NCAAN, the Southern AIDS Coalition, and Latinos in the South Announce the Ella/Her Project

In collaboration with Southern AIDS Coalition and Latinos in the South, learn about Ella/Her, our project for Black women and Latinas in North Carolina who are often left out of HIV prevention (PrEP and PEP) and sexual health education.

The North Carolina AIDS Action Network (NCAAN) is proud to announce the launch of the Ella/Her project, a new initiative empowering Black and Latina women in North Carolina to take charge of their sexual health.

In partnership with the Southern AIDS Coalition and Latinos in the South, this project centers women who have too often been left out of HIV prevention and sexual health education. Ella/Her is stepping in to change that by providing women with the knowledge and tools to prioritize their health and pleasure.

At its core, Ella/Her is about reclaiming conversations around sexual health by advocating for yourself in healthcare and breaking the stigma around HIV and STI prevention. When women are informed and supported, their choices directly strengthen community health.

The Ella/Her project offers information and resources on HIV and STI testing, PrEP and PEP, and finding healthcare providers who listen to your needs and respect you. It helps women start meaningful conversations with their providers around sexual health, whether asking for regular screenings to discussing prevention options.

Good sexual health is essential to overall health. When Black and Latina women in North Carolina have the information and support they deserve, the entire state moves towards a healthier and more equitable future.

Together, we’re redefining HIV prevention in the South. Join the movement by sharing and getting bilingual resources at ellaher.org.
