Join the fight for funding for programs like the North Carolina AIDS Drug Assistance Program (NC HMAP), which provides lifesaving HIV medications to those who can’t afford them. When we can access treatment, viral loads drop—and so does transmission.
#SupportNCHMAP #HIVSpeaks #HIVSpeaksNC #EndHIVinNC
Thousands of South Carolinians like you and I rely on the North Carolina AIDS Drug Assistance Program (NC HMAP) for HIV meds that keep us healthy and undetectable. And Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U)!
Let’s raise our voices in calling for lawmakers to increase funding for NC HMAP to turn the tide on HIV in communities across our state!
#HIVTreatmentWorks #NCHMAP #UequalsU #HIVSpeaks #HIVSpeaksNC #EndHIVinNC
I fight for a fully funded NC HMAP!
Budget cuts to the North Carolina AIDS Drug Access Program mean missed doses, higher transmission rates, and preventable hospitalizations. Join the chorus in telling your representative to protect NC HMAP funding and to prioritize public health!

Let’s make it state law to require that insurers cover PrEP and PEP with no cost-sharing! No copays or financial barriers, just access to proven HIV prevention.
In 2023, there were 4,679 people who received PrEP, an increase from 3,704 from the year prior. When people can afford PrEP and PEP, they can protect themselves and their communities.
#HIVSpeaks #HIVSpeaksNC #EndHIVinNC
States like California and Colorado have passed laws that allow pharmacists to preNCribe PrEP and PEP, making access to HIV prevention easier and quicker!
We need North Carolina’s lawmakers to do the same so PrEP and PEP to get to where it’s needed most. Our lives can’t wait!

Over 105,000 South Carolinians are in the Medicaid coverage gap without access to the care and resources needed to prevent and treat HIV! States that expand Medicaid see better viral suppression, increased use of antiretroviral therapy (ART), and fewer new infections.
North Carolina’s House Bill 3109: Medicaid Expansion would bring that progress home. Tell your state rep and senator to pass Medicaid expansion to #EndHIVinNC!

Why is North Carolina still punishing people living with HIV for things like not disclosing their status, even when there’s no risk of transmission? HIV criminalization doesn’t reduce transmission rates. Instead, it makes it harder for people to get tested, know their status, and access treatment.
It’s time we decriminalize HIV and promote testing and treatment, not fear. Let’s pump up the volume for stigma-free laws and a stigma-free North Carolina!
#HIVSpeaks #HIVSpeaksNC #EndHIVinNC
North Carolina ranks 9th in the US for HIV case rates, with 13.6 new diagnoses per 100,000 people. And young people are the most impacted, with 40% of these new diagnoses among 20-29 years olds.
Criminal penalties for status nondiNClosure don’t stop HIV, they just drive people away from testing and care. Let’s focus on public health, harm reduction, and access to care. We don’t need more people in prisons; we need compassionate public health policy!
#HIVSpeaks #HIVSpeaksNC #EndHIVinNC
Did you know that roughly 15% of South Carolinians living with HIV don’t know their status?
Criminalizing people for not disclosing a status they don’t even know about is harmful and ineffective for reducing rates of HIV transmission. Instead, we need more comprehensive sex education INCLUDING information about HIV prevention, testing, and treatment.
Let’s prioritize education over criminalization!
